Before I blog about my recent fashion shoot, I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone that I will be attending WPPI next week in Las Vegas!! I’ll be out of the office March 8-10. So if you email or call me, I may not be able to return your message until after I get back. I can’t wait for WPPI! This is my first time going to WPPI and I can’t wait to meet and greet thousands of other wedding/portrait photographers! I also can’t wait to party with them too! Expect a photo recap once I return!
Now back to your regular scheduled blogging….
Check out the FABULOUS photos from my recent Anthropologie inspired fashion shoot. Big thanks to Wai Reyes for the coordination.
Also big thanks to the following folks who helped make this fashion shoot such a wonderful experience:
Model/Stylist: Emily Hively (doesn’t she look like a mix of Sandra Bullock/Julia Roberts?!?! She’s gorgeous!)
Makeup Artist: Carla Hille
Hair Stylist: Karla Montero
Location: Fullerton, CA
I have been wanting to do a fashion shoot for some time now but no major opportunities have arrived that fit what I was really interested in. I’m so grateful for opportunities such as these because it allows me to take photos with no pressure whatsoever. I can just relax and shoot however I want and be freely creative. My goal for the day was to capture some “editorial style” type of photos. Things you would see in a fashion magazine per se. Along the way, I met some fantastic photographers and made some new photog friends
By the way, they all rock because they are so sweet and funny and I love their style too!
In any case, here are some of the Anthropologie inspired fashion shoot. Leave me some blog love and I’ll be a very happy camper! It seriously spices up my day when I get a comment. I love feedback y’all! Spread the love!

GIRL! I love em all!!! You rocked it! Love your work my friend! Excited to partay with you in a week!
Beautiful work sarina, you nailed the anthro look!
People often ask me, “Why don’t I see a lot of black and white and sepia pictures on your website?” To be honest, I love color! We live in color and to me color just has so much more life to a picture. I’m all about living and being fresh and vibrant! I love happy colors! But on occasion, I will enhance my photos to make them black and white, sepia, or even vintage looking. It truly depends on the photo itself. I just prefer color over anything else but that doesn’t mean I can’t touch them up to any other style. =P
But today is your special day, because I’m going to play with some black and white photo manipulations.
As usual, I used my Kubota Actions as well as Totally Rad Actions – Dirty Pictures.
I basically did my usual post processing in RAW then used Kubota Actions to convert then to Black and White and manipulated the shadows and light in order to get just the right balance that I was aiming to get.
Then, I used Totally Rad – Dirty Pictures (specifically roxie glitterhips and sapphire velvet). VOILA! Instant Black and White goodness with some textures to boost up its awesomeness.
I adore the shades of light in both pictures with a tint of color beaming through. Enjoy!

Dear Nature,
Normally, I am not a “nature” type of person. I tend to get scared of anything NOT human even though some humans also scare me. I also am not a camping, beach, hiking type of person. However, over the last few years I have slowly tried to change my ways. I have begun to like dogs and I am less afraid to pet them and even play with them. I love taking walks and just appreciating everything around me. I guess being a photographer really helped me with this. Because I love photography so much, I love observing my surroundings a lot more now which pushed me to appreciate nature more.
Today, I took out the trash like every other week. But this time I heard a buzzing noise. I looked around and I saw a hummingbird’s nest. Looks like my neighbor even put some aluminum cover to protect it. How kind of him! So initially, I was afraid and thinking this hummingbird’s going to attack me while I am taking out the trash. I always think anything not human is going to attack simply because I have no idea what they are thinking. But then I quickly thought, this is a great opportunity to take the hummingbird’s picture! haha
So I got my camera (after washing my hands of course!) and began attempting to take its picture while it quickly flew all around me. I was still scared it was going to attack me somehow, but took a risk anyways. =P He ended up not attacking but I could tell it didn’t want me around its nest. So I just got my shot and left so it wouldn’t be frightened of me.
Overall, I just wanted to say thank you to Mother Nature. Sometimes you freak me out. Sometimes you ruin my plans with rain or too much sun. But sometimes you just show me how to appreciate animals and nature. You remind me “Hey this is cute. Take its picture before its too late!” haha Love it when random picture opportunities arrive because nature took its course and presented themselves to me.
Here are two of the pics I got. It was majorly hard. I have a new found appreciate for people who photograph wild animals. It’s not an easy job!

I had a fun baby session the other day. I got to shoot baby Zoe again. Zoe is one of my loyal clients and I adore shooting her and her cousin Asyiah. Zoe has grown up so much since I first started shooting her. I feel like I have grown so much since my first session with her too. It’s amazing how so much growth and change can happen in less than a year. I simply love it! It makes me so happy to have loyal clients such as Zoe who invite me to photograph her. It’s also very pleasing to me to look back at the old photographs and see how much I have improved and evolved in the last several months. I am continuously trying to improve my skill, find my signature style, and creatively challenge myself.
Zoe just turned 1 year old recently and we kind of re-created her birthday with a birthday cupcake. It was fun to have her all messy and playful with it. It was adorable! I love capturing the fun playful moments like these.
Here are some of the photos captured on my regular session with Zoe and a shot of her cousin Asyiah…enjoy!!

Zoe's cousin Asyia

So cute! She looks as if she's contemplating about how to reach for that orange that's too high! hehe

Love the adorable head gear! hehe

Hey Birthday cupcake!

I just posted the engagement shots of Andrew and Tracy yesterday and now he’s a short part 2 of how the day went. I also took some shots of her fabulous family. Her parents were so sweet and kind and really went with the flow. It’s really not always easy being a “model” for the day and everyone was a real trooper on working with me and trusting me throughout the process. I really appreciated that. It helped make my job a bit easier knowing that they trusted my input and ideas. Check out a few of the family’s pictures. Thanks again to the Chow family for being so patient, friendly, and cooperative!!
